Is Crack Cocaine legal in Bangladesh?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Crack is the freebase (base) form of cocaine and has no separate legal identity in Bangladesh: it is controlled AS cocaine, a Category-A controlled narcotic under the Narcotics Control Act 2018, whose schedule covers cocaine, its salts and preparations and thus reaches the base/freebase form. The capital threshold is measured by weight of cocaine and carries over to crack, so 25 g or more is punishable by death or life whether powder or base.
Consequences if caught
Possession or trafficking of 25 g or more of crack (as cocaine) carries the death penalty or life imprisonment; under 25 g draws 2-10 years.
If prescribed or medical
Cocaine has no recognised therapeutic use in Bangladesh; the crack/freebase base has no medicinal preparation and cannot be prescribed.
Documentation
No prescription documentation exists for crack/freebase cocaine.
