CBD in Kiribati: not individually verified

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that CBD specifically is scheduled in Kiribati, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed. CBD is not named in Schedule 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Cap. 23, Laws of the Gilbert Islands, Revised Edition 1977, and whether any later order under section 13(2) added it is not established. Paragraph 7 on printed page 26 names "Any extract or tincture of cannabis", and whether a cannabidiol isolate or a CBD extract is inside it is not stated by the text and is not claimed. The Poisons List in the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance Cap. 70, 1977 Edition, prints, at Part I printed page 28, the Cannabis entry that includes "extracts of cannabis; tinctures of cannabis", which does not name cannabidiol. Section 4(1), printed page 6, applies Part II to 'Indian hemp and resins obtained from Indian hemp and preparations of which such resins form the base', and the text does not say that this substance is within those words. That list is a sale law, not the drug schedule, its force today is not established, and under section 53(3) the Secretary may add to it by order. This is not a finding that CBD is uncontrolled in Kiribati. The Dangerous Drugs Ordinance was read as in force in the 1977 Revised Edition as amended to the Acts of 1995 and 2001, and this text does not rule out a later amendment or a later order under section 13(2).
