Cannabinol in Kiribati: not individually verified
Also known as: cbn
We have not confirmed that Cannabinol specifically is scheduled in Kiribati, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed. Cannabinol is not named in Schedule 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Cap. 23, Laws of the Gilbert Islands, Revised Edition 1977, and whether any later order under section 13(2) added it is not established. Whether an isolated cannabinol is an extract of cannabis is not stated by the Ordinance and is not argued here, and the fragment cannabin in cannabin tannate is a different name. The Poisons List in the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance Cap. 70, 1977 Edition, prints, at Part I printed page 28, the Cannabis entry "...the resin of cannabis; extracts of cannabis; tinctures of cannabis; cannabin tannate." in which cannabin tannate is a different name from cannabinol. Section 4(1), printed page 6, applies Part II to 'Indian hemp and resins obtained from Indian hemp and preparations of which such resins form the base', and the text does not say that this substance is within those words. That list is a sale law, not the drug schedule, its force today is not established, and under section 53(3) the Secretary may add to it by order. This is not a finding that cannabinol is uncontrolled in Kiribati. The Dangerous Drugs Ordinance was read as in force in the 1977 Revised Edition as amended to the Acts of 1995 and 2001, and this text does not rule out a later amendment or a later order under section 13(2).
