Caffeine in Tonga: not individually verified
We have not confirmed that Caffeine specifically is scheduled in Tonga, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed as a matter of searching every instrument available, though as a matter of ordinary fact caffeine is an unregulated everyday stimulant almost everywhere, Tonga included, and nothing in the search below suggests otherwise. Caffeine and its chemical name, 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine, were checked against Schedule 1 of the Illicit Drugs Control Act, pages 21 to 23, and against Schedule 2's controlled chemicals list. Neither names it. Caffeine is a purine alkaloid, structurally unrelated to the opioids, phenethylamines, benzodiazepines and barbiturates that make up Schedule 1, so it has no isomer, homologue or hydrogenation relationship to a named substance for the 2020 analogue clause to use.
Confirm directly with Tonga’s national drug authority or your own embassy before you rely on anything.
