Is 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) legal in Thailand?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Neither 7-hydroxymitragynine nor kratom is separately scheduled in Thailand: 7-OH, a kratom alkaloid, is a constituent of the now-legal plant, decriminalised together with kratom (removed from Category 5 in 2021) and regulated under the Kratom Plant Act B.E. 2565 (2022), with certain sales and uses restricted.
Consequences if caught
No narcotics penalty attaches to the alkaloid; kratom is legal, though the Kratom Plant Act restricts sale to minors/pregnant women and certain preparations.
If prescribed or medical
No prescription requirement — kratom leaf is legal to consume; regulation is via the Kratom Plant Act, not the narcotics regime.
Documentation
Personal carry of the legal plant is permitted subject to the Kratom Plant Act; there is no narcotics import permit for it.
