5-MeO-DMT (Bufo / Toad) in Thailand: not individually verified
Also known as: the god molecule
We have not confirmed that 5-MeO-DMT (Bufo / Toad) specifically is scheduled in Thailand, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed for 5-MeO-DMT. As in force on 3 October 2026, 5-MeO-DMT, PubChem CID 1832, "2-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)-N,N-dimethylethanamine", is not named in any Thai naming notification read, and the shared abbreviation with a named entry does not carry it. The search ran on 3 October 2026, in Thai, in Latin script and by chemical name, through every Ministry of Public Health naming notification the Thai FDA Narcotics Control Division publishes under the Narcotics Code B.E. 2564: narcotic Category 1 of B.E. 2565 as amended up to No. 5 B.E. 2568, narcotic Category 2, narcotic Category 4 of B.E. 2566 as amended up to No. 3 B.E. 2568, narcotic Category 5, and psychotropic Categories 1 to 4 of B.E. 2565, Category 1 as amended up to No. 5 B.E. 2569. DMT is item 18 of the psychotropic Category 1 list, "ดีเอ็มที (DMT)", "2-(1H-indol-3-yl)-N,N-dimethylethanamine". Clause 2 of the notification extends an entry to salts, esters and ethers, but DMT has no hydroxyl group to form an ether, so a methoxy group at the 5 position makes a new compound and not an ether of DMT. 5-MeO-DMT is the methyl ether of bufotenine, "3-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-1H-indol-5-ol", PubChem CID 10257, and bufotenine is not named in any list read either, so the ether clause has no parent to attach to. This is not a finding that 5-MeO-DMT is uncontrolled in Thailand.
